Ethereum is the first blockchain to introduce the concept of smart contracts. The network was launched by Vitalik Buterin, Gavin Wood, Charles Hoskinson, Anthony Di Iorio, and Joseph Lubin in 2015.
Ethereum enables a host of L2 and L3 solutions to build on top of it, resulting in a diverse ecosystem of applications and use cases. Miners process transactions and earns rewards.
Ethereum's native token is ETH, whose supply does not have a hard cap. ETH holders take a cut of the transaction fees. Ethereum Foundation is the core developer of the Ethereum network, and has received funding from StarkWare Industries, Trueblocks, Connext, and Parati Technologies, among others.
