Introduction
Orca is an automated market maker built on Solana. Orca was founded by Yutaro Mori and Grace Kwan and launched in February 2021.
Use Cases
Orca has two core features: Orca Pools and Orca Whirlpools. Orca Pools are constant-product automated market makers (AMMs) that enable swaps between two tokens. Orca Whirlpools are also AMMs, but allow liquidity providers to concentrate their liquidity in specific price ranges to capture higher rewards.
Tokenomics
As a protocol, Orca takes a cut of the transaction fees paid by traders. The native token of Orca is ORCA. The total supply of ORCA is 100M, first issued in August 2021. The ORCA holders govern the Orca DAO. Orca's investors include Polychain, Jump Capital, Coinbase Ventures, Sino Global Capital, DeFiance, Zee Prime, and Solana Capital, among others.
